What the job involves
- Reporting to our VP, HR Business Partners, you will lead an EPD (Engineering, Product and Design) HRBP team and partner with EPD senior leadership in a way that demonstrates both strategic problem solving and operational execution
- We seek an HRBP leader to build on this progress and to lead the team with commerciality, innovation and empathy
- In your work, you will play a critical role in upholding our values and amplify the success of our business and products through our most important asset: our people
- Provide strategic and operational HR leadership to our EPD Leaders and in partnership, develop and execute HR strategies in support of our high impact culture
- Manage a team of experienced HRBPs while also role modeling our high impact culture within the broader HRBP team
- Guide & coach senior leadership across people-related areas such as talent & performance management, employee engagement, change management, succession planning and org design
- Proactively identify opportunities to utilize people trends to identify gaps, and deploy people strategies that drive commercial outcomes for the business
- Positively collaborate & influence across peers within our broader People team to drive HR initiatives that solve for your clients' strategic needs
- Serve as an advocate and coach for building diverse and inclusive teams
Our take
Dropbox started by helping people bring together their files in one central place. The contents of these folders are synchronised to Dropbox's servers along with other computers and devices where the user has installed Dropbox, keeping the same files up-to-date across all devices.
Nowadays, there are lots of competing companies in cloud storage, and some with better distribution (e.g. Google and Apple). This explains why Dropbox is making a big push to reinvent itself after a fairly disappointing run since its IPO in 2018. The new Dropbox turns folders into "Spaces", which are collaboration hubs for teams, complete with comment streams, artificial intelligence tools and integrations into services such as Slack.
The company continues to build out its offerings through acquisitions, such as that of Formswift, bolstering its end-to-end agreement workflow capabilities. Indeed, It's very clear that Dropbox is trying to make a big move from being just a storage company. This seems to be a necessary move given the competitive nature of the industry it is operating within.
