Role
Who you are
- A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree, ideally in a Commercial, Economics, or Sales-related field
- Proven experience in sales, account management, or business development, with a focus on data-driven negotiation and value-based selling
- A genuine passion for art and the art industry
- Excellent communication skills in German and English; additional languages are a plus
- Autonomous and organized, with the ability to thrive in a remote-working environment
- Proficiency with Google tools (Sheets, Slides) and a strong comfort level with interpreting and utilizing data
- Experience with sales CRM such as HubSpot is a plus
What the job involves
- As an Account Manager in the Art Supercluster Sales team, your mission is to drive profitable growth by developing and maintaining a portfolio of high-value sellers across the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland)
- Beyond managing existing accounts, you will play a pivotal role in prospecting new sellers, focusing on onboarding contemporary artists and art galleries
- Collaborating closely with Catawiki’s in-house art experts specializing in Old Masters, Modern Art, and Post-War/Contemporary Art, you will help shape and execute strategies to accelerate revenue growth
- This role offers a unique opportunity to combine a results-driven sales mindset with a deep passion for art, building lasting relationships with sellers and fostering success for both them and Catawiki
- You will report directly to the Senior Sales Lead and work alongside a team of driven, art-loving sales professionals and in-house experts
- The Art Sales Team is composed of 7 highly motivated Key Account Managers and Business Developers spread across Europe
- The team thrives on collaboration, innovation, and ownership of strategic projects that drive performance and align with the overarching Art strategy
- Establishing medium and long-term strategic growth plans for assigned sellers, aligned with the global Art strategy
- Building and nurturing strong, long-term relationships with assigned sellers through phone calls, face-to-face meetings, email, and attendance at art fairs and events
- Collaborating with Catawiki’s art experts to proactively source lots for auctions and organize single-seller auctions
- Educating and challenging sellers to meet key performance indicators (KPIs) such as reserve price optimization and adherence to quality guidelines
- Using data insights to create and execute incentive programs that improve seller performance
- Presenting account progress and insights regularly to senior management and peers
- Proactively attending fairs, shows, and events to meet, onboard, and grow relationships with new sellers in the DACH region

In the past, it was only possible to purchase special items such as rare coins, antiques, and vintage cars at auctions held at physical locations. These days, many people prefer online auctions, but whilst they provide a wider range of objects for sale, this comes at the cost of proper pricing and quality control. Catawiki provides an expert-regulated online auctioning marketplace where users can browse and bid for special objects easily via the web or mobile app.
The objects listed on Catawiki are curated, valued, and verified by in-house experts, with over 65,000 objects passing through the marketplace every week. In this approach, the company has combined the community knowledge found at traditional auctions with the benefits of digital auctioning platforms, occupying a space that has long remained empty, and avoiding competition from bidding marketplace giants such as eBay.
Catawiki has received good funding in the past, which contributed to it becoming the success it is today. A recent venture has seen the company expand to serve artisanal artists with its handmade products auction series.
