Who you are

- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Experience building and maintaining container orchestration software platform
- Experience using CI/CD processes for software and GitOps processes for infrastructure
- Experience using modern observability technologies for application and infrastructure monitoring
- Experience interacting with internal and external customers and service providers
Desirable
- Building APIs at scale for data access
- Proven experience in systems analysis, troubleshooting and design, with a strong understanding of the interplay between hardware and software
- Production experience with common geospatial data formats
- Experience working with a distributed team of developers
What the job involves
- Muon Space seeks a Data Platform Software Engineer to develop/operate a robust platform for data/ML pipelines using satellite and geospatial datasets
- This role involves collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, integrating scalable cloud resources and modern software practices to support climate change monitoring and mitigation initiatives
- Scale and maintain Muon’s data workflow orchestration platform
- Collaborate on and improve data and ML pipelines
- Provide expert support and maintain knowledge of data platform solutions
- Collaborate with satellite and payload engineering teams to establish data requirements for MuonSpace data products
Our take
Developing and operating satellites represents a significant challenge. Many organizations need accurate, space-based data but lack the resources or expertise to build their own spacecraft or manage the necessary ground systems and data processing.
To tackle this issue, Muon Space provides a service called Muon Halo. This allows customers to access satellite data without having to handle the technical details of satellite construction or operation. Muon offers end-to-end solutions, including building and launching satellites, managing operations, and processing collected data.
Muon has contracts with major customers like the US Air Force and US Space Force, and it is set to launch ten satellites between 2025 and 2026. With financial backing, the company is ready to expand its services and meet the growing demand for space-based solutions.
