Role
Who you are
- We are seeking candidates who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program and are based in the Boston area
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Engineering, Energy Systems, Urban Planning, Business, or a related field
- Preference for candidates that have at least one previous co-op or work experience in a related discipline
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, highly collaborative team environment while managing tight deadlines
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including proficiency in Excel
- Technical exposure to or working knowledge of Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- General understanding of electrical components used in solar and storage projects
- Self‑motivated, proactive learner who can quickly ramp up in a dynamic environment
- Creative problem‑solver with an interest in improving processes and streamlining operations
What the job involves
- The Project Development Co-op will support project development and permitting duties for solar and battery energy storage (BESS) projects
- The primary focus will be to create presentations for community meetings, review utility interconnection and state incentive applications, support communication processes with landowners, and research technical-related topics
- Daily activities will center around project pipeline support and special projects
- This includes performing research and analysis on emerging solar and energy storage technical and policy related topics
- Support the development of solar and energy storage project opportunities in MA
- Represent BlueWave within the Project Development team including interactions with engineers, contractors, landowners, permitting authorities, and customers
- Utilize document control, GIS tools and Salesforce to control and report on project progress
- Become familiar with all project documentation, regulatory requirements and milestones, and monitor project progress against those requirements
- Prepare internal and external documents and presentations
- Provide quantitative analytical support for key project development decisions
- Assist in land-use, permitting and site control negotiations; attend meetings with local government boards and commissions
- Assist in early project diligence, such as site design, financial modeling, etc
- Support BlueWave’s Grid Integration team in managing the utility interconnection process for projects under management

The coexistence of agriculture and solar energy projects has been a longstanding issue, as both require extensive land use. Historically, this has led to conflicts over land resources and, as demand for clean energy grows, finding solutions to optimize land use for both agricultural and solar purposes becomes imperative to prevent environmental and economic trade-offs.
In response to this challenge, BlueWave has emerged, leveraging agrovoltaic projects to harmonize agricultural activities with solar energy generation. By placing solar panels above agricultural land, the company not only generates clean energy but also preserves the viability of the same farmland for grazing and crops.
This approach not only mitigates land-use conflicts but also sets a precedent for responsible resource management in the renewable energy sector. BlueWave has secured substantial funding with two impressive rounds in 2025, exemplifying its commitment to long-term success and scalability. With the support of its parent company, Axium Infrastructure, it is well-positioned to implement and expand its agrovoltaic projects.
