Role
Who you are
- Experience: 8+ years in data science, analytics, or applied quantitative work, with at least 2 years at a Senior or higher level. Strong preference for tech lead or manager experience
- Technical Proficiency: Expertise in advanced SQL and fluency in Python or R for conducting analytical workflows
- Product Impact: Proven ability to drive measurable outcomes on products using data, including setting metric frameworks such as north star metrics, funnels, and guardrails
- Stakeholder Influence: Demonstrated ability to present to and influence stakeholders at the VP level or higher
- Team Development: Experience in enhancing the capabilities of the broader data team, with tech lead experience strongly preferred
What the job involves
- Ontra is seeking a Staff Data Scientist reporting to our Senior Manager, Data Science
- Product Data Strategy: Collaborate with product GM/VP to harness data-driven insights for enhancing business outcomes and shaping the product's strategic direction
- Analytical Leadership: Conduct in-depth analysis to inform and influence the product roadmap, ensuring decisions are grounded in solid data insights
- Collaborative Partnership: Work closely with the VP of Product to align data science initiatives with strategic product goals and objectives
- Executive Communication: Develop and deliver compelling data narratives to executive teams to effectively communicate findings and drive decision-making
- Mentorship and Development: Guide and mentor team members, fostering a learning environment and continuously raising the standard for the data team
