Who you are
- We are seeking a talented individual to lead our external investment arm as the lead of our external investments arm
- We are looking for extraordinarily driven, capable, and visionary talent with an outstanding track record of personal, and professional achievements
- Driven by entrepreneurship and possessing a growth mindset
- Equipped with 2-4 years of experience as an operator in the AI ecosystem, and or on the investment side in the venture capital industry
- Experienced in investing in AI companies and providing ongoing support to your portfolio companies
- Passionate about creating meaningful impact and contributing to the European AI revolution
- Excited to further help grow and shape category-leading AI ventures
- A technical academic background is a plus
What the job involves
- Sourcing, evaluating and securing four to five exceptional deals per year to help establish us as the go-to early-stage AI investor in Europe
- Establishing and maintaining our positioning to all stakeholders
- Seamlessly integrating our investment targets into our existing AI ecosystem to strengthen the ecosystem and supercharge the investment target
Our take
Predicting AI as the most significantly growing tech field of this century, Merantix aims to apply machine learning to sectors that can benefit most from it. After a robust, highly selective vetting process, Merantix identifies founders and collaborates to provide support and funding to scale their businesses. The company integrates all areas of AI, building a complete talent pipeline and fund for venture scaling. Successful examples include Vara, SiaSearch, and Cambrium.
Merantix differentiates itself from typical venture capital firms through its approach. While most VCs invest in established businesses, spreading funds across many companies and taking losses while focusing on winners, Merantix tries to pick winners at the earliest stage.
The launch of an AI Campus in 2021 significantly increased the company's ecosystem, allowing it to explore new fields. Through strategic partnerships with SoftBank and the AI City project in Dubai, Merantix is growing. It has incubated ten successful startups so far and aims to produce even more in the coming years. Merantix is raising a new €100 million fund to co-invest in startups, marking its largest fund yet. This fund will be allocated to co-investing in external startups, investing in incubated startups, and supporting existing investments.
