Who you are

We’re looking for a mission-driven Analytics Engineer to join our Data Platform function and drive the development of our analytical data products
Is proficient in SQL (Python skills a bonus)
Has experience of working with, and modelling, complex data sets in data warehouses (preferably Snowflake)
Has previous experience working with dbt & Airflow
Is a great communicator and has excellent data storytelling skills
Can extract clear objectives and requirements from broad challenges or questions
Is passionate about solving complex data problems & is interested in working with rich & diverse climate datasets
Cares deeply about the climate and ecosystems of the earthIs a self-starter who thrives in constantly evolving environments, ideally with early-stage experience
We’d like someone highly ambitious, motivated and eager to propel their career forward

What the job involves

You will utilise a wide range of datasets and build strong relationships with key business stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient delivery of actionable insights to both internal and external customers
Developing and maintaining robust and consistent data models to power reporting, self-serve analysis, and customer-facing products
Working closely with a number of teams to gain a deep understanding of their data requirements and business objectives
Collaborating with stakeholders to help them leverage Data Platform in their workflows while ensuring a consistent approach to data testing, versioning, and metadata management within our data mesh
Ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and security of analytical data products
Knowledge sharing within the team on our data
Those who are successful will progress quickly, either as individual contributors or following a management path

Salary benchmarks

Our take

Sylvera is scaling carbon markets with software, by developing tools to quantify stocks of carbon stored in vegetation using AI applied to satellite or drone data.

Using current quantification techniques, it is not possible to provide accurate and regular data on the performance of forestry projects, which leads to issues with corruption, fraud and uncertainty. This leads to significant financial and reputational risk for corporates purchasing offsets and makes it hard for high quality forest projects to secure fair prices and low cost finance at large scale.

By providing a quantitative sequestration audit trail and associated risk ratings, Sylvera intends to underpin effective voluntary carbon markets. Its 2023 funding round is being put towards its entrance into the US market and hires across engineering and product.
