Lead Employment Counsel, Sonos

• 8 - 10 years of experience working on a variety of HR matters as in-house counsel or at a firm specializing in employment law with a demonstrated ability to balance legal risk and compliance with business objectives
• J.D. and membership in good standing in one state bar is required
• Deep understanding of, and ability to give guidance on, all of the following subject matter areas:
• Equal employment and anti-discrimination laws and policies under federal law (e.g. the ADEA, ADA, Title VII, etc.)
• Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives including an understanding of the evolving legal framework and collection and maintenance of employee data in the US and internationally
• Federal wage and hour law
• Employee benefits and compensation, bonus plans, and equity grants
• Performance management
• Talent acquisition and onboarding
• Employment-related litigation

• Sonos is looking for a Lead Employment Counsel at Sonos to oversee all global employment law related matters
• You will report to the General Counsel, AMPAC and be a cross functional advisor, sitting on the People Leadership Team, supporting the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion team, and partnering with the corporate legal team
• Advise senior leadership on global employment legal issues and business strategies to manage company risk and further short-term / long-term goals, including support of emerging markets, company restructuring and any M&A related activities
• Support the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion team with respect to DEI strategies, including representation goals, programming, equity audits and engagement with Employee Resource Groups
• Provide daily counsel to internal clients on HR issues, including employee terminations, wage and hour issues, disability accommodations, leaves of absence, compensation and benefits, global immigration, and performance management
• Partner with the head of employee relations on internal employee complaints and related investigations globally, including training and guiding the global People Team through the investigative process, and any associated remedial action and/or disciplinary action
• Partner with the corporate legal team on compliance-related processes, policies, audits, trainings, and various employment agreements
• Manage outside employment counsel (globally) in defense of lawsuits, as well as creating and driving best practices from an internal policy / process standpoint
