What the job involves
- The Manager/Senior Manager, Business Development role reports directly to the VP of Corporate & Business Development, you will support the expansion of Rent the Runway’s partnership ecosystem, which currently provides brands direct access to 150K+ strong members and a social reach of 10M+
- You will be responsible for executing large-scale, 360-degree partnerships for an elite roster of brands—including Bombas, Air France, and ILIA—across diverse lifestyle categories. You must possess a keen sense of market trends within the tech, beauty, and CPG industries to develop and execute strategies that ensure RTR remains a critical component of our partners' marketing plans
- 360-Degree Partnership Execution: Support the end-to-end delivery of fully integrated campaigns that span digital, social, and physical touchpoints
- Retention & Strategic Growth: Focus on the retention and growth of key brand relationships by understanding their strategic objectives and ensuring RTR delivers measurable value to each account
- Annualized Sampling Pipeline: Develop a robust pipeline of recurring sampling partners designed to drive continuous value and "surprise and delight" for the RTR customer, while generating incremental revenue and high-impact brand discovery
- Cross-Functional Team Management: Serve as the central hub and project lead across internal departments; you will collaborate daily with Marketing, Social, Creative, and Warehouse Operations to move high-impact activations from ideation to execution
- Account Planning: Develop account planning strategies that define the structure and opportunities for growth within each account, such as scaling a partner from a digital loyalty perk to a multi-channel experiential activation
- Pipeline & Revenue Management: Deliver on agreed sales objectives and revenue targets while maintaining and accurately reporting on the sales pipeline and closing likelihood every quarter
- Relationship Development: Develop senior-level relationships across the industry and attend events to network and raise RTR’s profile where new business opportunities exist
- CRM & Market Intelligence: Maintain a CRM database of key contacts and stay up-to-date on the RTR product roadmap, including our 2026 Curated Marketplace launch, and the broader digital media ecosystem

Rent the Runway seeks to profit from two important trends in apparel consumption: wanting to stay on top of the latest fashion trends while living and purchasing sustainably. By providing a platform for women to rent designer pieces, its users can have it all.
The company allows users to rent, subscribe, or buy designer apparel and accessories. It achieves this with its network of partnerships with hundreds of top designers and managing the crucial but complicated logistics in-house. It offers its partnered brands sophisticated analytics about potential customers in return for lower prices on designer garments.
Rent the Runway is now focused on diversifying revenue streams while reducing its costs. Its recent partnership with Amazon is an example of this new direction: while it will use this channel to sell clothes previously rented through its platform, it will, for the first time, be selling new clothes based on rental items modified in line with market data.
While moves such as this may well shift Rent the Runway towards profitability, it also risks undercutting the company's central message of sustainability and supporting the circular economy. The company believes that by creating better quality clothing, it will nonetheless be aiding in the fight against fast fashion.
