Who you are
- You thrive in an early startup environment, can navigate the ambiguity and don’t mind being scrappy to get things done
- You have a bias towards action; preferring to ship and learn
- You’re proficient in Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite or similar software
- You have 7-10 years of relevant industry experience; with a proven track record of taking a product from 0-1. You’re ecstatic about creating breakthrough products that disrupt industries
- You’re highly collaborative and use a hands-on approach to quickly iterate on our product and ship against our hypothesis-driven roadmap
- You’re excited about leading and managing a team of designers; internal or external
- You have previous experience in the FinTech space and understand how to navigate different stakeholder needs in design
- You have previous experience with international audiences and can localize design systems as needed
What the job involves
- The Design team seeks a Lead Product Designer to drive the foundational Design System for MobileCoin
- The responsibilities of the Lead Product Designer is equal parts interface and experience
- This early work to define MobileCoin’s design will demand intense effort as an individual contributor and as a team lead
- The Lead Product Designer will scale the team of Product Designers to work on all aspects of the company: Merchant Services, Financial Services, and digital wallets and vaults
- This role reports directly to the Chief Product Officer
- Trail-blaze design collaboration and vision across the company to build alignment on priorities and execution
- Take ownership of the interactivity and visual narrative of our digital products by understanding product strategy, requirements, functionality, and bold bets
- Work closely with the Chief Product Officer to help define product design strategy and roadmap
- Partner with our UX Research Team to discover opportunities to improve our design based on quantitative and qualitative feedback
- Collaborate with frontend and product engineers to understand available information at every state in our apps
- Build and continuously improve our design team by establishing tools, ideas, systems, and best practices
- Establish MobileCoin’s design principles and make them tangible with beautiful, simple, fun mobile app experiences that meet and then exceed customer expectations
- Own design problems end to end, from initial idea, MVP, and beyond to create elegant experiences
- Rapidly build wireframes and prototypes to tackle difficult UX problems
- Participate in interviewing, hiring decisions, on-boarding, and mentoring new team members as we scale the Design Team
- Develop a team culture of ownership, teamwork, and empathy that reinforces the core values of MobileCoin

MobileCoin is a privacy-focused cryptocurrency and payments platform designed to easily integrate with mobile messaging applications, such as WhatsApp, Signal, and Facebook Messenger. By combining privacy, security, and distributed trust, users benefit from an enhanced transactional experience that is unique to MobileCoin.
The company has collaborated with stablecoin platform Reserve to launch its fully collateralized stablecoin “Electronic Dollars” (eUSD). All eUSD transactions use end-to-end, zero-knowledge encryption, providing the sender and receiver with increased transactional security as they are the only people that can see the transactional data. eUSD is backed by several other stablecoins, including USDC, USDP, and TUSD.
