Role
Who you are
- Essential skills: PHP, MySQL, Laravel or Symfony experience, PHPUnit testing, strong JavaScript and frontend skills, Git version control
- Leadership: Previous experience in a team lead or line management role
- Deep technical knowledge: Modern PHP (8+) skills, good OOP practice, an ability to design and structure maintainable code in a way that goes beyond just MVC CRUD. Solid JavaScript skills with ability to learn a new framework quickly. React Native experience is a bonus as well
- Great communication skills: We’re a remote team and it’s important we communicate well. You may find yourself interacting with clients and explaining technical issues to a non-technical audience
- Positive attitude: We’re a friendly and informal company, we expect everyone to be able to get along well, support each other and work with a positive attitude. No coding rockstars or prima donnas please.
- Confidence & independence: We focus on results and don’t micromanage
- This role is a remote position within the UK Only. Must be a resident in the UK with full right to work in the UK
What the job involves
- OpenPlay is a B2B SaaS company focused on the sports and leisure industry. We are actively developing our mobile fitness tracking and rewards app Moves+ alongside our flagship leisure management platform Flow
- We want to hire an experienced team lead and full stack PHP developer, with experience or an interest in learning React Native, to join our remote team full time. Initially you will lead a small team driving our Moves+ product forward, managing and mentoring other developers, shaping requirements, designing system architecture and most importantly, committing great code
- Reporting to the Head of Technology you will be responsible for managing a development team. Your role is to lead your team to deliver software successfully by guiding them, managing stakeholders, and setting technical direction and approach. You will continue to contribute as a developer in this role
- We have an office in London, but this is a fully remote role, and most of the team works remotely. We try to be Agile in the way we work and are striving to simplify our processes and let teams self-manage.
