Share Local Media, also known as SLM, is a direct (physical) mail marketing agency, as well as a media program operator and tech platform. Since launching in 2016, the company has accrued some impressive customers including Lyft, Harry’s, Grubhub, and MVMT.
While direct mail may seem outdated or old school at first, it’s easy to see why trendy brands add it into their marketing mix. The rise of email and social media marketing has created a lot of white noise, while the rapid decline of direct mail marketing has created an opening for a more personal approach from hip, trendy brands.
It’s impressive that SLM has grown into a respected player in the marketing industry, especially considering that the company has been more or less bootstrapped (save for a 2016 seed funding round). Though its product may be far too niche to ever become mainstream, this plays nicely into SLM’s favor, who can continue to grow in the underserved direct mail marketing industry.
