Role
Who you are
- You have extensive experience coding in Go and/or Java
- You are an experienced and motivated engineer who consistently leads by example
- You enjoy collaborating with other engineers through pair programming
- You have proven experience in building scalable and high-performance applications, employing cutting edge algorithms, software design and technologies to do so
- Applying a product mindset, you solve for end users first, with technology being a means to an end
- You have a constant interest in learning more about the latest trends in technology, and want to grow further. We invest in engineer’s growth and will give you the platform to do it
- You own applications end to end, from specification to coding, to deploying, running and monitoring in production
Desirable
- You have experience deploying applications in Kubernetes through Google Cloud
- You have experience managing infrastructure as code with Terraform
- You are comfortable using BigQuery to analyse data to help identify areas of opportunity within the team
What the job involves
- Join our Flight Supply team within the Supply department, where you'll play a key role in expanding and optimising our flight offerings
- We're responsible for integrating with flight suppliers, ensuring a wide selection, competitive pricing, accurate availability, and seamless fulfilment for our customers' holiday packages

- You'll contribute to bringing new integrations online, identifying supplier opportunities, and ensuring our platform effortlessly handles billions of flight combinations
- . Our goal is a simple, configurable system ready to power new markets
- Reporting to the Lead Engineer for the Flight Supply team, you will focus on optimising breadth of choice, cost & availability accuracy and ensure scalability for our flights offering
- Contributing to a high-performing Flight Supply team by applying our engineering principles
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from conception to deployment and monitoring, ensuring that solutions are scalable, secure, and efficient
- Developing software in Go or Java
- Deploying applications via Google Cloud and Kubernetes
- Monitoring the performance of applications through Prometheus and Grafana
- Mentoring other engineers within the team on best practices

Our take
Travel, both domestic and overseas, has been a huge part of the British economy since the late 20th century. In 2019, UK residents spent £43 billion on foreign holidays - almost double the amount spent a decade before.
Despite travel companies suffering considerable reputation damage back in 2020, as they struggled to refund customers whose booked holidays were suddenly cancelled, the appeal of companies like loveholidays to holidaymakers will undoubtedly endure seeing as they make the process of booking holidays much easier.
In the nearest future, loveholidays will need to focus on maintaining its reputation, especially given the wide array of direct competitors who could steal market share. At present, however, loveholidays is still one of the fastest growing online travel agents. If it can keep up the practices which have brought it success over the past 10 years, loveholidays is still in a good position to keep its growth strong for few years to come.
