Role
Who you are
- The ideal candidate possesses a thorough understanding of Python, Data analysis techniques, ETL patterns, and automation techniques
- 3 - 5 years of professional experience as a Python developer
- Experience developing Jupyter Notebooks (including Lab and Hub)
- Experience with building data solutions and automation tools using Python
- Experience with Linux, bash/ksh scripting, and Regular Expressions
- Demonstrable interest in cybersecurity
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, data processing fundamentals)
- Experience with databases (relational, NoSQL, Search/Analytics)
- Excellent communication skills
- Great team player skills
- Highly self-directed, empathetic, and curious. Eager to automate repetitive tasks
- Be self-motivated and be able to switch contexts as business needs change
Desirable
- Experience creating Python packages or open-source package management
- A background or strong interest in cybersecurity
- Familiarity with a version control system. We use Git
- Experience with AWS - Compute, Storage, Database
- Familiarity with building REST APIs
What the job involves
- We are looking for a passionate Security Data Engineer to help us write tooling to parse, transform, and analyze security data. Reporting to the Data Analysis Manager
- Develop code used in the analysis of recaptured data
- Parse and transform structured and unstructured datasets
- Build python based automation for the parsing platform
- Develop and maintain Jupyter Notebooks (including Lab and Hub) for data analysis
- Maintain and improve the existing codebase and infrastructure
- Manage weekly ingestion process
- Collaborate and design with team to build innovative data systems

Our take
Mainstream browsers are heavily monitored to help combat cybercrime, but these browsers are generally not used by digital criminals. The 'dark web' operates outside of the legal web, with criminals using such platforms to sell login details and other sensitive information.
SpyCloud provides a web plugin that monitors websites and forums on the dark web to inform companies of when sensitive data that matches their credentials is located. This allows companies to identify and take action upon a data breach before any harm can be done.
There are many fraud and cybercrime detection software companies on the market but SpyCloud's specialisation in monitoring the darkweb has carved it out a distinct niche. This has seen it attract an impressive client list of over 500 enterprises, as well as significant funding that supports further platform development.
