Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Experience working on cross-functional teams
- Frontend-focused full-stack experience
- Experience mentoring others, reviewing architectures, and establishing design patterns
- Experience working on time-sensitive projects, balancing multiple stakeholder’s needs with a focus on achieving sustainable results
Desirable
- Computer Science or similar degree or equivalent experience
- Experience developing containerized, 12-factor applications
- Experience developing SaaS applications using the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform
- Production experience with Typescript, React, and/or NextJS
- Experience driving all phases of the development lifecycle: planning, ideation, execution, measuring success, and post-launch maintenance
- Experience working with Microservice and/or Event-based architectures. Experience using SQL to interact with databases
What the job involves
- Rula's mission is to make mental healthcare work for everyone: patients, therapists, and healthcare systems. As a member of Rula’s Partnerships team, you'll use your experience with 3rd party integrations to develop cutting-edge technology, enabling a seamless experience for our Partners when helping patients interact with Rula
- In this role, you'll engage in the development of high-impact solutions within a cross-functional team
- As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work across Rula’s stack to craft solutions in three main areas: optimizing partnership enrollment by building tools to enhance site experiences, building, and supporting partner integrations, and enhancing analytics into how our partners interact with our systems so we can continually improve them
- Throughout, you’ll apply your expertise and experience to pair with fellow engineers, improve our processes, and foster a culture of engineering excellence. The ideal candidate will present a bias for action along with excellent collaboration, problem-solving skills, and a strong sense of ownership
Our take
More than half of adults in the US will be diagnosed with a mental illness during their lifetime, and yet inaccessibility of treatment remains a huge problem. That’s what Rula aims to solve, with its platform that matches users to therapists that are covered by their insurance.
The company, formerly known as Path, is partnered with a number of major health insurers, including UnitedHealthcare and Anthem, making it an accessible service for millions of Americans. It allows users to browse therapists almost instantly, with just a short questionnaire to fill in before their matches are shown.
Though the market for tech services offering mental health provision is an overstuffed one, containing giants like BetterHelp as well as newer competitors, Rula's partnerships with insurers do mark it out against the crowd. The business has been steadily growing, and significantly bolstered its executive team in 2023. Its recent rebrand was designed to emphasize its vision to improve not only access to mental health care, but also clinical outcomes.
