Role
Who you are
- Prior engineering leadership experience, ideally in a high growth startup or unicorn software company
- Leadership experience is a plus, tbh, but substantive experience shipping code as part of a team, with eyes all over the SDLC is really critical
- Strong organizational leadership skills demonstrated publicly in the past, or through referencing
- Strong knowledge of technical design/architecture, data structures, and algorithms
- Contemporary knowledge about industry trends, best practices, and change management
What the job involves
- Help unlock the engineering team through mentorship, management, code reviews, best practice development, and team bonding activities
- You will **not** be responsible for jumping into write code, but likely could if necessary (and definitely could at some prior point in your life), with hard earned battle scars to prove it
- Use your well honed empathy skills to drive engineering delight, which largely comes from reducing waste to 0, empowering coding super heros to use their super powers, & grow themselves in the process, technically and otherwise
- Use your leet prioritization skills to ensure that the Engineering team is working hand-in-hand with Product and Design to deliver what our customers rely on us for, in the right order
- Be creative in solving technical problems, and comfortable breaking ground and creating new solutions
- Be equally creative in listening to feedback from engineers, from Product management, and helping find ways to move us forward, together, in scalably effective ways

Our take
Remote working is becoming the norm for many companies, but without the right tools, communication and connectivity between team members can suffer. SoWork solves this problem with its first-of-its-kind metaverse for coworking.
SoWork's founders first met playing World of Warcraft. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they decided to leverage their knowledge of gaming to create a virtual communication tool for teams. By offering a beta version to companies such as Tinder, the team has been able to rapidly scale its R&D and lengthen its lead over would-be competitors. This includes big-name coworking tools like Slack, which is transitioning from a messaging facility to a virtual HQ.
SoWork has continued to gain traction even as companies begin to move back into the office. Despite this return to in-person workplaces, the company is banking on a larger transition into digital co-working. It believes that virtual offices will soon offer more employee perks and advantages, and companies (even those in growth stage) will be eager not to miss out.
