Who you are
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field
- Demonstrated interest in product management, combining an understanding of how technology is developed, tested, and brought to market with the ability to connect technical problem-solving to customer and market needs
- Familiarity with product development and/or project management methodologies
- Proficient in data analysis, research, and modelling to support decision-making
- Comfortable using productivity and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Office, JIRA, Confluence, or similar
- Ability to assist with the design or modification of simple test fixtures or jigs as needed to support testing and troubleshooting activities is considered an asset
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand technical systems and translate them into clear product requirements
- Comfortable discussing technical trade-offs and understanding how engineering choices influence product outcomes
- Highly organized with excellent time-management and prioritization skills
- Aptitude to learn and adapt quickly in a rapidly changing environment
- Effective communicator, able to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Comfortable working independently and collaborating across engineering and commercial teams
- Curious and motivated to learn how technology becomes a scalable product

What the job involves
- Sanctuary, a world leader in developing AI-based control systems for humanoid robots, is seeking a 8 Month Technical Product Management Co-op student starting January 2026 to support cross-functional product initiatives.
- Reporting to the Senior Technical Product Manager, you'll collaborate with technical and customer-facing teams to identify and document product requirements, support development planning, and help bridge the gap between technical implementation and customer needs, combining engineering insight with an understanding of market and business drivers
- You will work on projects that combine process development, product definition, and technical coordination, gaining exposure to the full product lifecycle with potential to expand into longer-term opportunities
- Our Success Criteria
- Coordinate robot testing, including task selection, design collaboration, scheduling, and performance tracking
- Analyze testing and operational data to identify insights that improve product performance and development processes
- Organize and maintain product requirements within requirements management tools, ensuring accurate documentation, traceability, and alignment across teams, and support training and adoption of these tools
- Support the translation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of product development and management processes and tools to ensure consistency and clarity across teams
- Lead and maintain requirements management, ensuring traceability across programs, alignment with product objectives, and effective collaboration across engineering and testing teams
Our take
Sanctuary has set itself the ambitious task of developing human-like intelligence in general-purpose robots, intending to complement the human labor market - and eventually helping humans settle in outer space. Its robots are modelled on the size and shape of humans, and their cognitive architecture is based on the subsystems of the human brain. The hope is that this puts the so-far elusive artificial general intelligence (AGI) in closer reach.
It’s a challenging mission, but the Sanctuary team have remarkable expertise and experience. Before Sanctuary, the founders launched deep tech robotics company Kindred with backing from the likes of Google and Bloomberg Beta. Whilst it was eventually bought out by Ocado, Sanctuary was designed to pick up where Kindred’s early research left off.
Some critics suggest that Sanctuary’s technology isn’t anything new - just yet. Nor has any company promising AGI (including Tesla) offered up material results. There’s also some question as to whether AGI, technologically glamorous though it may be, is better than highly specialised systems. If it can be done, however, there’s no doubt it’ll prove a remarkable deep-tech breakthrough.
