Finance Officer, Animorph

• Problem-solver: You can make sense of multiple flows of complex information and think critically to see the bigger picture. You are confident with maths, and enjoy sinking your teeth into logic and numbers puzzles, and spreadsheets. You are comfortable with ambiguity and can take initiative finding the answers to unknowns
• Rigorous: You are meticulous in your work. You can check your own work, doubt yourself, and identify mistakes. You pursue excellence, and always move beyond mediocre
• Learning-oriented: You are a proactive and collaborative self-starter who wants to shape the finance function of a steadily growing B2B tech company. You are curious and eager to learn new skills in finance and beyond, and improve yourself as part of a collective whole
• Values: You want your efforts to serve a larger purpose, and have a positive impact on people’s lives. We always act in the best interests of Animorph and society
• Working together: You take accountability for your successes and failures and set high standards. You can ask for help and generously support other team members. We grow together by challenging directly and caring personally

Desirable

• First week: You will meet other members on the team, learn about Animorph’s drive, aims, and previous projects. Supported by the Finance Circle, you will seek to understand our existing finance processes. We’re a small (<10 workers) co-operative that’s growing steadily, and interpersonal rapport is essential
• First month: You will take ownership of the full financial process of bookkeeping and bank reconciliations with Xero, maintenance of accounts receivable and accounts payable, running payroll through our external accountants, and keeping organised records
• First six months: You will review and innovate processes to implement best practice. You will own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant accounting, together with our external accountants. You will initiate regular forecasting and reporting to the other members, and be the point of contact for internal finance-related queries. You will be supported to handle our grant-related finance operations, and prepare budgets for new bids
• First year: You will identify and analyse new opportunities for cost savings or additional revenue. You will research tax deals, optimising our processes towards maximising profits. You will oversee the financial aspects of our contracts with partners, and other aspects of compliance. You will be an impactful team member setting accounting policies and procedures, and leading finance at a growing tech company that aims to enrich human potential
