What the job involves
- As a recent university graduate, you’ll contribute meaningful work to our growing engineering team
- Grads in the past have built a real-time high-throughput data processing pipeline that ties our infrastructure together, built out our proprietary financial platform that is central to our long term company mission, and worked to expand our extensive automated testing framework
- You’ll be building out new features on a team that fits your skill-set and interests. We look for students that have a passion to change the consumer finance industry for the better
- Past Grad Projects:
- Aaron has been working on growing and developing Affirm's Debit+ product from beta stages into the upcoming public release! His projects include revamping the Debit+ onboarding flow experience for new users and developing the process for reordering a lost / stolen physical debit card
- Candace has built batch data pipelines to enable greater resiliency and accuracy in Affirm’s loan origination processes with our loan origination banks. She has been working with her team on a system to report all loan applications created with Affirm and sourced data from various data warehouses across the company
- Maggie has worked on releasing an experiment delivering changes to Affirm’s core checkout flow, resulting in a streamlined experience with fewer pages and less fine print. She was responsible for the backend implementation, and worked closely with frontend engineers and cross-functional teams

Affirm offers point-of-sale loans to consumers, working with merchants like Shopify, KAYAK, and Walmart. Buy now, pay later transactions have grown in popularity in recent years, and this business is tapping into the market with a totally different approach to credit - by delivering the Affirm card, the first US debit card with the option to pay-over-time.
Boasting over 21M consumers and 337,000+ merchants, the company offers flexible payback options, ranging from 3 to 36 months. The interest rates run between 0% and 30%, so, while they are not necessarily the cheapest option, Affirm prides itself on having no fees for late payments, no hidden charges, and total transparency about what people will pay before they take out a loan.
Affirm collects payments from the customers and pays the merchants directly, shouldering the risk itself. The company has boosted its market share, expanding its availability beyond the US to include most of Canada, and continues to launch new features and create new partnerships towards bettering its offering.
