5+ years of experience in software engineering

What the job involves

As a Senior Software Engineer, Backend you will focus on contributing to our backend services that power our suite of products
Our backend engineers write and maintain our APIs, build the communication between our systems, handle data modeling, deal with events, and ensure we are capturing what is needed for our services to continue scaling as we scale to support hundreds of thousands of professionals booking millions of appointments and processing millions of payment transactions
Own projects end to end, from design to implementation, managing complexity and working with stakeholders to think through areas such as business impact, reliability, operability, and security
Collaborate with product managers, product design, or other cross-functional stakeholders on roadmap initiatives, product ideation, and prioritization. Break down epics and projects to consumable size for the team and continuous deployment
Produce high-quality code that’s easily testable, readable, and accounts for edge cases and errors
Architect tools, services, and systems using well accepted design patterns to allow for iterative autonomous development and future scaling
Uphold best practices and high standards for engineering and product quality in addition to mentoring newer team members to do the same

However, despite a modern facade the beauty industry lacks specialised software and still runs on generic CRMs and basic spreadsheets. Recognising a gap in the market, GlossGenius has stepped in to provided a specialised business management platform for beauty salons, spas and studios.

With no competition in this niche, GlossGenius has swiftly captured a large market share, with triple-digit year on year revenue growth. It serves over 40,000 businesses (70% of which are women-owned) and has more than $2 billion in annual transactions on the platform.

GlossGenius has raised a large amount of capital in several funding rounds closed in quick succession. It is aiming to accelerate platform development off the back of its releasing of consumer experience, payment and automation products. It is well on the way to fulfilling its long-term aim of developing into the Toast of the beauty industry.
