Role
Who you are
- 6+ years of programming experience in Ruby or with Python
- Experience working on backend systems at a large-scale internet service
- Track record of designing and implementing complex and scalable software services
- Experience architecting, deploying and operating asynchronous work queues, high-volume storage systems, and high-throughput systems
- Understand the trade-offs in employing different engineering solutions to a problem, valuing pragmatism over idealism
- Docker has no secret for you
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative, and high-growth environment
- You have a great oral and written communication in English. 🇺🇸
Desirable
- Experience with Kubernetes
- A rock-solid foundation in Computer Science (data structures, algorithms, software design)
- Experience in document oriented databases like Elasticsearch
- Deep knowledge in microservices architectures
- Experience with another language like Golang
- Comfortable with DevOps aspects
- Open-source contributions
What the job involves
- We are looking for a passionate senior backend engineer to build and scale the services powering our interactive web application. You will join a multidisciplinary and multicultural product team (back, front, QA engineers, product owners, UX/UI designers...). Today we are around 50 people in the tech team
- Practice disciplined software engineering (e.g. automated testing, code reviews, and writing beautiful, readable code)
- Develop integrations with 3rd party softwares (Webhooks, API, deep integrations)
- Design, develop, test and implement new product features
- We want from you that you try new things. POC is a cool word :)
- Be a leader on sharing knowledge
- Animate debates on our technical challenges, then take a decision

Running a thriving online community is a fantastic way for organisations to boost engagement within their teams, but the current hosting options are limited. Many existing platforms for online communities are limited in functionality and leave little room for customisation, whilst neglecting basic features such as analytics and privacy.
Hivebrite provides an online platform for the creation and management of online communities, taking an end-to-end approach by handling everything from the initial creation to the provision of engagement analytics. The platform includes a variety of flexible management tools for flexible community frameworks, in addition to administrative analytic tools to provide actionable insights on how to boost engagement.
Hivebrite's unique approach recognizes that not all online communities have the same needs, providing a wide range of customizable and optional tools for specialized purposes whilst maintaining a focus on engagement analytics. Most recently, the company acquired AI-powered matching company Orbiit to support the further enhancement of its offering.
