Who you are
- Proficient in SQL and data visualisation tools such as Looker, Superset, PowerBI, or Tableau
- Experienced in building and managing data pipelines using tools like DBT and Airflow
- Proficient in Python for data science, automation, or system integrations
- Curiosity: A desire to learn, an openness to new information, and the agility to revise opinions based on new evidence
- Strategic Influence: Exceptional capacity to build trust and influence across multidisciplinary teams without relying on authority, you can convey complex concepts clearly and engagingly to influence diverse audiences

What the job involves
- We are the driving force behind Wise, making sure everything runs smoothly. We support our engineering teams so they innovate, build and ship great code quickly and confidently
- Our expertise spans Data, Machine Learning, Incident and Risk Management, Hardware, and System Efficiency, all designed to foster an unparalleled Engineering Experience
- As our second hire in this exciting space, you'll help shape the way we support our engineering teams. This role isn’t about finding technical solutions – we have awesome engineers for that
- You will help refine our strategies, focusing on understanding user needs, mastering our data infrastructure, and leveraging metrics for impactful outcomes. Your influence will profoundly affect the trajectory and success of Wise’s mission
- IT KPIs and Internal User Experience: Define and design key performance indicators to evaluate IT effectiveness first. Then provide actionable insights related to internal user experience, to ensure we are meeting IT goals and delivering a high-quality service
- Cost Optimisation (IT): Analyse and implement strategies for IT cost optimisation with a focus on efficiency improvements, to get us closer to Mission Zero. Deep dive on a wide range of topics from device management to cloud services
- Data Engineering → Revolutionise ETL and KPI Tracking: Move beyond basic ETL processes by working with REST APIs, Airflow, and DBT to build efficient data pipelines

Our take
Wise started when the two founders realised they would be better off trading Estonian kroons for British pounds (and vice versa) between themselves rather than going through banks. That was back in 2011, and they've since grown Wise into one of Europe's most successful tech businesses, exchanging billions of currency every month.
Wise rapidly grew by solving a significant problem for customers, who lost too much money to banks when exchanging currency. Its attracted investment from some of the best investors in the world, from Andreesen Horowitz to Index Ventures and even Richard Branson.
While the market is crowded with new entrants (think Revolut and Monzo) and traditional banks trying to catch up, Wise is still staying one step ahead having recently opened a new hub in India and new payment features as well as reporting a rise in key metrics on higher volume and customer growth. This continued growth positions the company well for continued success in the future.
