Who you are
- 10 years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field
- A strong understanding of corporate communications, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong project management skills, with a track record of leading large, cross-functional projects
- Expertise in digital marketing, content creation, and audience engagement strategies
- Strong experience in brand development, positioning, and identity management
- Ability to craft compelling storytelling across multiple platforms (print, digital, social media, multimedia)
- Established relationships with members of the press and a proven track record to forge new relationships quickly and genuinely
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to build credibility and collaborate optimally across teams and leadership
What the job involves
- Reporting to the Communications Director, this role is responsible for crafting an impactful presence for Mozilla Foundation and our values
- This role will expand outreach to target audiences using a wide variety of mechanisms, including social listening, news judgement, community management tactics, external partnerships, and more
- The successful candidate is a highly organized, creative, opportunistic, self-starter — and most of all, ready to attract and engage key people around impactful storytelling with Mozilla
- Those who'd excel are quick learners, able to generate high-quality written materials, and adept marketers able to reach targeted audiences with clear calls to action
- Project Management (50%):
- Creation and execution of strategic, goal-based, data-centric communications and marketing plans for campaigns and communities, usually on a rapid response timeline
- Craft and implement a unified working process to encompass advocacy, communications, and community building objectives
- Lead project management for StratComms Studio outputs
- Liaise with internal teams to plan and execute campaigns, events, and engagement opportunities to expand Mozilla’s reach among key audiences
- Supervise rapid-response marketing and communications initiatives as needed
- Strategy Development and Insights (30%):
- Collaborate with Communications, Mobilization, and Communities leadership on strategic planning and organizational messaging and development
- Develop and implement issue-specific communications strategies aligned with Mozilla’s goals and broader communications strategy
- Collaborate with core Marcomms colleagues on digital strategy efforts, ensuring our online social and web presence is optimized for engagement and conversion
- Measure and analyze the efficiency of communications initiatives, refining strategies as needed
- Copy Writing and Brand Building (20%):
- Develop audience-specific communications and marketing strategies that advance Mozilla’s key focus areas: data, education, and community
- Ensure integration of our style guide, verbal identity, and core messages across all communications channels and audiences

Mozilla creates and manages a range of free-to-use software products. Their most well-known product is Firefox, the fourth most popular internet browser in the world. Mozilla is a not-for-profit with a focus on promoting online privacy. The company has a published manifesto outlining its commitment to keeping a balance between commercial profit and public benefit.
The companies other products include Bugzilla, a bug management platform, and Pocket, an award-winning digital content filing service. In direct odds with Google, Mozilla has recently launched a new product Mozilla VPN. The VPN or virtual private network enables users to browse the internet without being tracked. Mozilla was also instrumental in creating the programming language Rust, which is admired for its brevity. Rust uses roughly half the amount of code as C++ to produce the same results.
