Who you are

You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or a related technical field.
You have at least 7 years of experience and a profound understanding of back-end development including Java, Spring Boot, MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
You have experience in leading projects and/or teams.
You have solid problem solving skills and enjoy complex challenges.
You have great English skills (no Dutch required) and are able to structure your thoughts and express them clearly verbally and in writing.

What the job involves

As a Tech Lead in one of our domains, you’ll work with stakeholders from tech and business to translate requirements into scalable and resilient solutions.
You help the team plan, prioritize and make the right trade-offs. Ensuring business goals are achieved while also realizing your long-term technical vision.
You provide in-depth tech expertise for your product and act as point of contact for other teams wishing to use and cooperate with your product.
You are able to communicate your views both when specifying new features with stakeholders and while providing technical mentorship to your colleagues.
You act responsibly for the well-being of your surrounding colleagues and build their skills based on development needs.
You build it - you run it - you love it: you will be responsible for managing a sustainable support model for your product.

Picnic is one of Europe's largest online supermarkets, quickly growing into a household name with its simple, yet innovative app and green business model. Thanks to its ‘own the supply chain’ model and daily delivery routes (as opposed to on-demand delivery), the company is able to run a low-cost business targeted at the mass market, rather than premium buyers.

One of the major factors in the company’s rampant growth since 2015 is its capacity for free delivery, enabled by these daily delivery routes. The company's fleet has grown from 4 vans to more than 1,000 electric vehicles, cutting down on carbon emissions as it serves its hundreds of thousands of users.

The company's impressive funding - which has been heavily backed by the likes of The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the sum of 1.4 billion euros in funding - has enabled Picnic to expand beyond The Netherlands into Germany, France, and further afield. Picnic is well set to see continued growth and expansion as it further disrupts the grocery delivery market.
