Who you are
- Be proficient with Splunk SPL, Splunk Risk Based Alerting, & Splunk Custom TA Development
- Demonstrate leadership experience - in a team lead or related role
- Experience in a Security Operations Center with a solid understanding of the challenges of security monitoring and analysis
- Mentor teammates and act as an escalation point and SME
- Have familiarity with Python scripting and XSOAR integration
- Write SIEM correlation rules that produce actionable results
- Apply CIS, NIST, MITRE Frameworks to content
- Utilize and maintain code repositories, such as in Bitbucket
- Be skilled in task tracking with JIRA, ServiceNow or similar
- Have experience modeling and documenting software systems and business processes for the organization
- Work remotely from a home office when not at a corporate office
- Pass a pre-employment background and drug screen in accordance with applicable laws
What the job involves
- The Manager, Detection Engineering will report to the Director, Threat Operations
- The Manager will be responsible for overseeing a team of Detection Engineers, security content plans, development, and execution
- The role is part of the Cyber Operations team, building and maintaining defensive products and services to mature cybersecurity goals
- This individual will participate with platform standardization, requirements gathering, process creation and solution building across a forward thinking, technology driven organization
- Attract and retain talent to the content management team and provides leadership in their roles, responsibilities, and KPIs, ensuring they are aligned to established objectives
- Create team roadmap and allocate resources based on customer and business needs
- Work directly with customers on detection functions, such as alert creation and tuning
- Mentor team members on building detection strategy
- Partner with Threat Operations and Intel team peers on long term projects
- Partner cross-functionally with customer-facing leadership teams to prioritize and complete customer requests
- Supports CD/CI development life cycle
- Coordinate team goals to deliver, validate, and maintain custom security use cases
- Oversee the preparation, implementation, and tuning/maintenance of detection alerts
- Contribute to new and existing code base
- Champion the Deepwatch Core Values internally and externally
