Role
Who you are
- Three to five years of commercial experience with React
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript, Typescript, HTML and CSS
- Experience building responsive layouts and working with CSS frameworks
- Familiarity with CSS in JS approaches and the trade-offs involved
- Experience with testing tools such as Jest and React Testing Library
- A good understanding of accessibility standards and how to apply them
- Experience integrating RESTful APIs and working with asynchronous code
- Strong communication skills and comfort working collaboratively
- Familiarity with Git and modern development workflows
Desirable
- Experience contributing to design systems or component libraries
- Knowledge of state management tools such as Zustand, Recoil or Redux
- An understanding of performance optimisation techniques
- Familiarity with build tools and continuous integration or continuous delivery workflows
- Some experience with backend development
- Experience with Cypress for end-to-end testing

- You will work closely with designers, product managers and senior engineers to bring ideas to life

- Build and evolve modern React applications that sit at the heart of how our customers interact with Board Intelligence
- Contribute to the design and structure of our frontend architecture and component library
- Play a key role in delivering new product features that support our long term strategy
- Shape how we think about performance, scalability and frontend excellence
- Work across teams to integrate new services and ensure a smooth and intuitive user experience
- Write clean, maintainable code using React, Typescript, HTML and CSS
- Implement responsive and accessible interfaces that work across devices
- Write tests to ensure quality and reliability
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to a supportive and growth minded engineering culture
- Stay current with frontend best practices and emerging technologies

Board Intelligence has been helping boards to make smarter, faster decisions for more than 2 decades and it has been turning that knowledge into software since 2008. With over 18,000 users engaged on its platform, BI works with FTSE 100s, large privately-owned companies, public sector and government departments, and has delivered ~50% YOY growth over the past five years.
The company's product is smart board report packs supported by its AI tool Lucia, which helps to evaluate the balance of board reports. Board Intelligence also offers a secure portal for board pack distributions and has its own advisory consultancy arm. BI's mission is definitely ambitious then, and it will need full support from the up-and-coming young generation of board members to favour the adoption of its smart board packs.
In 2024, it sold a majority stake in its company to K1 Investments off the back of a doubling of valuation over 3 years. With new international support behind it, its 3000-strong client base - which includes the likes of John Lewis and ITV - will no doubt gain even more value from Board Intelligence's offering.
