Who you are

Why do we need you? Well, we are looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer who will bring deep technical know-how, system design knowledge and a healthy dose of fun to the team
We are looking for a high-impact Individual Contributor with a deep technical background who is ready to take the next step in their career. In this role, you will spend the majority of your time coding and architecting systems, while simultaneously mentoring junior engineers and leading technical initiatives. This position is designed for someone who has the "leadership itch" and wants to eventually transition into a Tech Lead Manager (TLM) role
8+ years of software development experience at a SaaS or technology company
Experience leading small teams (1-4) or mentoring other engineers
Professional experience with Ruby on Rails is nice to have. Experience with Node.js or a comparable web-app framework is also acceptable
Professional experience with TypeScript
Ability to adapt to new technologies, changing requirements, and evolving organizational needs
Hands-on experience with Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), microservices, and involvement in monolith-to-services modernization or large-scale refactoring initiatives
Proven ability to own features end-to-end, including technical discovery, implementation, testing, release, and ongoing maintenance
Proven ability to deliver complex projects on time, including delegating to other engineers and cross-team collaboration
Experience using AI coding assistants (Copilot, Cursor, etc.) as productivity tools, with a clear understanding of generated code and the ability to defend implementation choices
Availability for participation in an on-call rotation, ensuring prompt and effective responses to business-critical alerts outside of regular working hours
Authorized to work lawfully in the United States of America as Calendly does not engage in immigration sponsorship at this time

What the job involves

You will report to the Engineering Manager for the Scheduling group and will play a key role in designing and supporting the core features and architecture that underpin Calendly’s core product experience and maintain our users’ confidence
The Calendly platform is a monolith that is being decomposed into various services in order for us to scale our platform and team
We need ambitious, experienced engineers who can help us drive this stage of growth
As an engineer at Calendly, you will both build new features and work to scale our platform and architecture
You will build tooling and automation to fine tune our delivery process as you grow into a service oriented specialist
You will also learn to work with multiple technologies such as Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Argo Workflows, Rails, NodeJS, React, Golang, PostgreSQL, Redis, to name a few
Collaborate within your team to build new features that are targeted at our highest impact enterprise customers
Contribute to platform scaling initiatives
Meet regularly with Product and Design to fine tune requirements
Attend agile ceremonies to help your team plan out their work and get it done
Work across squads to improve Engineering practices at Calendly
Review implementation plans and pull requests from your peers
Mentor and coach other team members

Calendly is a cloud-based scheduling service that is straightforward to use. It allows around 10 million customers per month to connect and make appointments based on their availability without having to send emails back and forth.

The platform offers four plans, allowing individuals, small companies, and large enterprises alike to make use of these services. Organic strategies have driven Calendly's growth. Its invites become links to Calendly itself, so people who like it can, and do, start to use it.

There are a handful of competing products on the market, including offerings from Doodle and Microsoft, but Calendly's customer-friendly design has won it attention and helped it to carve a space in the field.
