Role
Who you are
- This is a strategic and hands-on role, ideal for someone passionate about financial integrity and innovation
- You'll demonstrable SMF17 experience in a financial planning, wealth planning and investment platform business
- Proven experience in a senior AML/compliance role
- Demonstrable experience working in an investment platform business
- Understanding of UK AML regulations, FCA requirements, and financial crime risks
- Excellent analytical, investigative, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and influence cross-functional teams
- ICA or equivalent AML qualification preferred
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a MLRO (SMF17) to oversee our anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) framework
- You’ll ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, lead investigations, and act as the key point of contact with regulatory bodies
- Be our key expert on economic crime and lead the whole agenda to keep our customers safe and our team aware of emerging risks
- Collaborate with the wide Risk and Compliance teams to embed anti financial crime practices within the customer journey and with product teams to ensure financial crime awareness prevention is central in our customer outcomes
- Stay up to date with regulatory developments and industry best practices
- Be our policy and operations lead on financial crime, which includes:
- Serving as the firm’s (and any acquired firms) appointed MLRO (SMF17)
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining AML/CTF policies, procedures, and controls
- Monitoring and reporting suspicious activity, including filing SARs with the NCA
- Conducting regular risk assessments and ensure appropriate customer due diligence (CDD/KYC)
- Leading internal investigations and ensure timely escalation of issues
- Provide AML training and guidance to staff across the business
- Liaise with regulators, auditors, and law enforcement agencies
