- Pragmatic AI Vision: A grounded, expert view on how AI can fundamentally improve software effectiveness without losing sight of user needs
- Development Tool Expertise: Deep experience with IDEs, extensions, or language runtimes. You can engage deeply with Principal Engineers on architectural trade-offs
- The "Data Science" Perspective: A strong background in Analytics or Data Science. You understand the user's “why” as much as the “how”
- Enterprise Groundedness: Experience building software for the unique constraints of Fortune 500 IT environments (auth, security, and compliance)

What the job involves
- Your mission is to lead the continued evolution of our core authoring suite, including Positron, the RStudio IDE, and Workbench, into an AI-native era. Not only do we need to innovate and reimagine what our products can be in this new world, but we also need to remake how software engineering works when AI assistance is woven into it
- You will act as a strategic guide, helping our high-performing teams navigate this fundamental shift while championing the psychological safety and open-source values that define Posit’s culture

- AI Engineering: Guide the teams on how AI-centered features should be developed, tested, secured, deployed, scaled and maintained
