What the job involves
- The Senior Manager of External Communications and Digital Strategy for OLX will lead the development and execution of comprehensive communication strategies to enhance the company's public image and reputation
- This hybrid role involves managing media relations, and public relations campaigns, and overseeing all social media and digital content strategy
- Reporting to: Director of Communications & ESG
- Develop Communication and Digital Strategies: Create and implement effective external communication and digital strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives
- Media Relations: Establish and nurture strong relationships with international media players, acting as OLX's primary media liaison person, managing agencies and aligning a network of PR officers in all OLX’s markets
- Public Relations Campaigns: Plan and execute public relations campaigns to promote key company initiatives, and position OLX as a pioneer and leader in using AI as a game changer to improve the user experience in online classifieds
- Social Media Management: Oversee the management and strategy of all corporate social media channels, ensuring consistent and engaging content that amplifies company awareness and solidifies its reputation amongst key stakeholders
- Digital Innovation: Stay ahead of digital trends and introduce innovative ways to leverage social media and digital content for corporate and business storytelling targeting key opinion leaders throughout Europe
- Digital Content Creation: Lead the creation of digital content, managing multiple stakeholders and agencies to ensure we have one, compelling tone of voice throughout OLX’s social media posts, blogs, and multimedia collateral
- Institutional Image: Ensure consistent, clear, and compelling institutional messaging across all channels, aligning with OLX's vision and values
- Crisis Management: Upgrade and execute OLX’s crisis communication book to safeguard OLX's reputation during sensitive situations
- Performance Analytics: Monitor and analyze performance metrics to optimize communication strategies and make data-driven decisions
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive and aligned communication and social media efforts
Our take
OLX group started as an alternative to Craigslist outside the US and has since ridden the wave of classifieds, e-commerce and marketplaces to become one the most prominent web platforms in the world.
Over 300 million people use an OLX group website every month. The company has managed to reach this level primarily through the acquisition and integration of emerging marketplaces that typically delight customers with their easy-use and quality range.
The company is now deepening its M&A strategy by integrating further marketplaces and inventories on behalf of its largest platforms, like OLX Autos. The business has already done $1B of revenue since operation.
While some brands have been flying high, others like the Russian-based Avito have become liabilities. Navigating these fluctuations in the fortunes of its ever growing portfolio of brands will continue to pose the biggest challenge for the group.
