- Ability to make smart, timely and data-driven decisions and balancing roadmap risk, operating expense and client value
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and agile methodologies
- Experience in multimedia, video streaming, or real-time content management a plus
- Experience with real-time 3D rendering and performance optimization a plus
- A Bachelor’s degree in a technology related field is required
- 15+ years of engineering leadership experience with people management responsibilities
- Experienced in effectively assessing, selecting and developing talent; adept at providing balanced, direct and actionable feedback to team members. Experience managing multiple priorities and overseeing distinct teams with varied strengths
- Thrives on initiating, building and cultivating strong, authentic relationships inside and outside the team; highly collaborative; navigates and activates alignment across organizational boundaries
What the job involves
- Seeking a hands-on technology leader to manage the full lifecycle of software development for our flagship Digital Signage products, with a strong presence in the US as well as a global team
- Guide and coach engineering managers and lead teams to deliver consistently and on time, every time
- Work with Product Managers to ensure roadmap commitments are clear, prioritized, and actionable
- Lead architects to ensure products are designed for scale, efficiency, and future technology needs including AI
- Understand and advocate for the voice of the customer within engineering teams, and prioritize customer delight
- Be a “force multiplier” – bring your authentic self, bring out the best in people, and build teams that strive to build amazing things together
- Nurture a culture of continuous improvement, agility, and resilience
- Establish key objectives/metrics to measure and improve performance
- Actively identify and remove blockers, communicate changes effectively
- Actively coach and mentor team members in their careers
Our take
Poppulo delivers the world’s first communications experience platform, Poppulo Harmony, that unites multiple communications channels in one content creation and publishing experience. Through the Harmony platform, businesses can improve both internal and external communications, improving employee engagement and the customer experience.
Poppulo was first launched as an email marketing solution, but it underwent a dramatic rebranding in order to focus on internal communications. This move proved successful, with the company going on to serve thousands of businesses including Santander, Rolls-Royce and Asos. In 2021, a merger with Four Winds saw Poppulo valued at around $1 billion, establishing it as a major player in the communications market.
It was in 2022 that Poppulo released the Harmony platform, adding customer communication capabilities to its employee engagement toolkit, and becoming a one-stop-shop for all its clients' communication needs. Having already secured a significant foothold, the company has been focused on furthering its international expansion while building out its executive team. A round of layoffs in 2023 is certainly not good news, but it does appear to be a result of the wider economic situation rather than anything else.
