What the job involves
- We are seeking a motivated Product Management Intern to support the development of products and tools that power driverless operations at Waabi
- This internship offers a unique opportunity to work alongside our product and design team, gaining hands-on experience in building solutions to enable autonomous trucking technology
- You will manage specific projects related to site operations, focusing on what will be required to prepare autonomous trucks to launch driverlessly on the road
- This Product Management intern will bridge the gap between engineering, design, and user needs to propel our mission forward
- The Summer Internship is expected to start May/June 2026 and continue on a full-time basis (40 hours/week) on-site to August/September 2026
- Assist in the execution of product roadmaps for tools and services to support driverless operations
- Learn and participate in the end-to-end product lifecycle, defining requirements for new features
- Collaborate with engineering, design, operations, and commercial teams to track and prioritize project progress
- Gather user feedback to identify areas for performance and usability improvements and organize into actionable work tasks
- Conduct research on industry best practices and safety standards for autonomous trucking operations
Our take
Autonomous vehicle technology is rapidly developing and many sectors are recognizing its value. However, whilst the self-driving industry has made significant advancements there is much more that can be done. There are challenges in this space surrounding scale and developing commercially viable self-driving technology.
Waabi hopes to tackle these challenges and be the leader in self-driving technology with their "AI first approach". The company said that combined with a closed-loop simulator, this approach will allow both common driving scenarios and safety-critical edge cases to be tested at scale - solving one of the key issues in the industry.
Waabi has a growing partnership with Volvo too, with is a major boost for its future. The two companies have co-developed a new Volvo VNL Autonomous truck that pairs VOlvo's purpose-built autonomy platform with Waabi's end-to-end AI driving system, sensors, and compute. Volvo has also backed Waabi financially through its venture arm, giving Waabi both manufacturing support and long-term investment. Toget, erhjtis puts Waabi in a position to scale and move towards fully driverless trucking quicker.
