Who you are
- You have demonstrable experience working as a manager of managers delivering multiple successful projects in the past
- You have a consistent track record of managing the delivery of OKRs or goals across multiple teams, whilst maintaining high engineering standards
- You have a strong technical background and experience managing and growing engineers up to Principal level
- You have worked with highly scalable cloud based engineering platforms and have positively contributed towards the overall engineering excellence of your organisation
- You have professionally developed and mentored people at all levels within an organisation
- You have demonstrated effective collaboration across teams and departments
- You are able to provide clarity from ambiguity and communicate clearly and effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- You lead, manage and drive great, consistent performance across multiple teams
What the job involves
- As one of the Heads of Engineering, you will be taking on responsibility for a domain area of our group technology platform which supports both Moonpig and Greetz brands
- You will be trusted to lead and develop your teams in order to meet our ambitious growth targets, whilst being supported every step of the way and reporting directly to our Director of engineering
- Develop and deliver roadmaps and strategies that span teams and functions directly impacting business performance, in conjunction with your closely aligned Head of Product partner
- Define ways of working and processes to support large engineering programs and demonstrate progress and business impact with data
- Represent Engineering at the highest levels of the organisation
- Coach and develop new and existing people managers and principal level individual contributors, and collaborate effectively across teams and departments
- Own part of the technology budget, working to manage costs and ensure effective spend, while still investing platform efficiencies
- Own the technical delivery of a part of our group technology platform
- Manage expectations of senior stakeholders and key external partners
- Run cross-functional projects and initiatives, working closely with peers in the product team to plan using the OKR framework
- Solve complex problems with broad impact either individually or through collaboration with stakeholders
- Undertake risk analysis to understand the impact of a decision on the business and work with the data and security teams to track these risks where appropriate
Our take
When Moonpig was founded in 2000, it bought into the idea that a personalised gift is always more meaningful, whether sent from the sofa, the commute, or the gym. Customers quickly bought into this vision, and Moonpig saw rapid growth culminating in its 2011 acquisition by Photobox for £120M.
Since then, Moonpig has seen continued success. Through expansion into new products such as flowers (Moonpig is now a top-3 online flower seller) and the development of its own app, Moonpig has established its place within the market for personalised gifts.
And it doesn't plan on slowing down anytime soon, as it looks to expand even further. Recent innovations have included the introduction of giant cards, and the company has also secured the ability to create exclusively branded ranges alongside Disney and Warner Bros. This commitment to innovation positions Moonpig to capture even more market share and strengthen its leadership in the industry.
