Role
Who you are
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or be good enough that we won’t notice through equivalent prior work-related experience
- 7+ year’s software development experience, with a good understanding of all layers, ideally in a SaaS or micro service-based system
- Experience in creating process, tooling, and visibility on product observability, enabling teams to have a 24/7 view into their services in Production
- Knowledge of or willingness to adapt to our technology stack: React, TypeScript, C#, .NET Core, Spring Boot/Java, Kubernetes, Postgres
- Experience with AWS Services (EKS, MSK, Kinesis, S3, SNS, SQS, Lambda, API Gateway) preferred, not required
- Exposure to modern design elements like distributed systems, containers, NoSQL, circuit breakers, SPAs
- Strong desire to learn and a passion for problem solving and innovation with the development teams
- Ability to work well in a team environment and attitude to focus on team specific goals and objectives
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a commitment to participate effectively with a team and collaborate with people across a variety of levels with diverse backgrounds
What the job involves
- Help maintain a platform-wide observability process focused on identifying symptoms of performance issues and patterns for resolution
- Provide technical mentorship to our product teams, helping them to create and own observable services
- Create repeatable, automatable process for detecting, measuring, and communicating on application performance
- Foster a culture of collaboration, identifying product team requirements, enabling teams to take ownership of understanding and monitoring their own services
- Lead efforts to optimize system availability, resiliency and performance across multiple AWS regions, hybrid cloud and various workloads
- Promote opportunities for enhanced observability, refactoring and identify areas of optimization
- Research and leverage commercial products, libraries and tools that can be used to solve problems
- Lead a program of defining SLOs and dashboards for specific services and following industry standards for integrated tracing, metrics and logging, like Open Telemetry
- Support environment of cloud-native microservices running on Kubernetes, event brokers and AWS service
- Provide constructive and honest feedback during sprint and event retrospectives with a team mindset
