Applied AI Engineer, Taktile

• Taktile is a hybrid company with options to work from either our Berlin HQ. Taktile will not cover relocation services for this role
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential as we operate in a remote environment requiring clear and effective communication
• Strong engineering fundamentals with a passion for simplicity, precision and reliability
• Curiosity about how to apply AI safely and effectively in real world products
• Comfortable getting hands-on and truly understanding the data
• At least 3 years of professional experience in software development with an emphasis on machine learning and natural language processing
• Prior industry experience with Python backend development or as a ML engineer shipping models or LLM based features into production
• Hands on experience with large language models using APIs like OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI or similar
• Experience with at least one agent or orchestration framework, for example LangChain, ADK, Strands ****or equivalent custom tooling, for tool calling, RAG or multi step workflows
• Experience with databases and a major cloud provider (AWS preferred)
• Proficiency in RESTful API design and implementation

• You will work at the intersection of backend engineering and applied machine learning. Your focus will be to design, build and operate production ready agents that use LLMs, tools and data to help our customers automate complex decisions. If you are ambitious, have strong engineering fundamentals and want to see your models and agents used in real customer workflows, this role is for you
• Build and operate AI agents in production:
• Design, implement and maintain agent based systems in Python using frameworks from the modern agents ecosystem. Design, implement and maintain agents that power underwriting, onboarding and investigations for our customers
• Build strong evaluation datasets:
• Create and maintain datasets that capture real world scenarios and edge cases. Work with domain experts to source and label samples, and use these datasets to reveal failure modes and improve agent performance
• Work on backend components and APIs:
• Develop backend services in Python and FastAPI, hosted on AWS. Expose your agents as reliable APIs, integrate them with Taktile flows and ensure correctness, observability and performance
• Shape our agent platform:
• Contribute to internal libraries and patterns for building, evaluating and deploying agents. Help define how we do prompting, tool orchestration, retrieval, evaluation and monitoring in a repeatable way
• Collaborate across disciplines:
• Partner with product managers, data scientists and forward deployed engineers to translate decisioning use cases into agent workflows. Participate in design reviews, technical deep dives and experimentation
• Learn and grow in applied AI:
• Deepen your understanding of LLM capabilities and limitations, experiment with new techniques and share learnings with the broader team through demos and cross team learning groups
