Who you are
- 7+ years engineering experience: Expertise in creating, maintaining, and scaling highly available and performant web platforms
- Languages: Proven track record in building, shipping, scaling, and operating Java (or similar) applications, with deep expertise in ReactJS and NodeJS for modular, modern web content
- Databases: Proficient in SQL and comfortable working with relational databases
- Source Control: Solid knowledge of Git or similar source control tools
- Cloud Solutions: Experience designing and implementing complex cloud solutions (preferably AWS), with the ability to plan and execute effectively
- Leadership & Strategy: As a team leader, you drive project and product success in Agile environments with pivotal decisions, strategic thinking, and clear communication
- Coaching & Mentoring: Passionate about growing others and yourself, using coaching and mentoring skills to elevate your team
- Risk Management: Skilled at identifying risks, creating mitigations, and influencing solutions effectively
- Startup Mindset: Thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments with a cross-functional approach and a deep passion for technology, driving continuous improvement in your team, tools, and processes
Desirable
- Experience using or integrating headless WordPress or other Content Management tools
- Knowledge or experience with the NextJS framework and GraphQL
- Experience working with A/B testing tools such as Optimizely
- Familiarity with Terraform or other IaC tools
- Experience with ad serving platforms such as DFP
What the job involves
- You’ll be working with a new and growing team that is responsible for the content management architecture at SmartAsset
- This team is working to build out the future content management systems to create, serve, and innovate on the financial information that attracts our users and has built our brand
- Your role on this team will involve working on both front and backend services as we build and migrate our new content management system while working closely with our organizational architects to design the future of how we serve content
- This position presents a high-growth opportunity with the responsibility to shape and own the technical and architectural direction of our web products
- You will be helping lead an AGILE SCRUM team responsible for running and scaling smartasset.com, a highly available, high quality domain that services [X amount of users per Y time frame] and is the backbone of our business
- As a leader on your team, you will drive for results, make key technical decisions, and continually improve engineering practices as we revamp and reshape the services we provide
- Your role will be pivotal in guiding technical designs and ensuring the successful implementation of your team’s roadmap
- Your relentless drive to learn, coupled with a "no challenge is too big" approach, will shape your team's decisions around technology, tooling, and processes
- You will collaborate closely with everyone around you including our product team and other stakeholders to shape a roadmap for our web presence that makes raving fans of our users
