Role
Who you are
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Reliability engineering or related field, with 5+ years of industry experience
- Hands-on experience testing electrical systems and components such as PCBs, bus bars, terminals, connectors, wiring harnesses, including experience with electronics test equipment and ability to write commands and test scripts
- Familiar with developing accelerated lifetime tests to assess component reliability across a range of operating conditions (temperature, humidity, vibration/ shock, other environmental exposures), including derating analysis and highly accelerated lifetime testing
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills within a group of peers and the broader organization, including remote team members
- Hands-on experience with electrical power systems, including high voltage (>400 V) or high power (>10 kW) is preferred
What the job involves
- Form Energy is seeking a Senior Electrical Systems Reliability Engineer to improve the reliability and lifetime of our iron-air enclosures and deployed systems
- As part of our Reliability team, you will work closely with the Systems Engineering team to develop test plans, analyze data, perform failure analysis, and define critical design requirements for electrical power systems
- This role will require hands-on work in the lab and cross functional collaboration to evaluate, analyze, and propose design-for-reliability solutions to new and poorly understood problems and gain confidence in our product lifetime
- Serve as subject matter expert on design for reliability best practices for critical design challenges relating to electrical systems and their subcomponents (e.g. bus bars, terminals, connectors, wiring harnesses, PCBs)
- Closely partner with design owners to de-risk and down-select next-iteration enclosure and system design concepts and translate high level product requirements into functional reliability and lifetime requirements for components and subsystems
- Design, execute, and analyze experiments internally and at external labs to evaluate failure mechanisms and their acceleration factors, including hands on testing of systems and components, and hands-on failure analysis
- Engage with external vendors to drive and monitor reliability and lifetime testing of electromechanical components that can meet design requirements at scale

In addition to improvements in cost and consistent electricity access, Form Energy’s batteries are scalable, portable, and safe - offering a unique approach to revolutionizing renewable energy storage towards a greener future.
Although renewable energy storage technology remains an emerging industry, a variety of competitors are also driving developments of battery storage technology. However, Form Energy continues to be a key leader in this space, bagging significant investment that will enable it to build its first manufacturing plant and begin selling to customers. Form Energy's progress is highlighted by a deal with Xcel Energy to deploy iron-air battery systems at two of its retiring coal plant sites and with Puget Sound Energy in 2024, to help the company deploy multi-day energy storage systems.
