Who you are

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
Minimum of 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity roles with a Bachelor's degree, or 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity roles without a degree
Proficient in Python and familiar with distributed computing and IoT/device security
Strong understanding of Linux system configurations, web server (e.g., Nginx) configurations, and common web application attacks (e.g., CSRF)
Knowledge of encryption, hashing, and underlying security technologies
Experience with security compliance and auditing processes
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and address complex security issues
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to operate independently and educate others on security best practices

What the job involves

As a Senior Software Engineer focused on Cybersecurity at Bear Robotics, your primary responsibility will be to safeguard our software systems, robot devices, and cloud infrastructure from potential security threats
Perform audits of existing assets in GCP and ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements
Secure communication between robots and the cloud, as well as within local networks, using appropriate encryption and authentication methods
Implement and maintain intrusion detection and response systems to proactively identify and mitigate security incidents
Conduct penetration testing and simulated phishing attacks to assess and improve the overall security posture of the organization
Establish, enforce, and continuously improve security processes and policies, including access control, data protection, and incident response
Evaluate and integrate security tools and online services to enhance the security of our systems and infrastructure
Keep up-to-date with the latest security news and trends to identify and mitigate potential zero-day attacks
(Optional) Collaborate with engineering teams in designing secure APIs and other software components

Our take

Many restaurants are struggling to keep up with service demands due to a lack of staff and rising costs. Traditional staffing methods are no longer enough to handle the fast pace and high expectations, creating a need for new, tech-driven solutions.

To solve this, Bear Robotics created AI-powered server robots called Servi. These robots move around the restaurant, delivering food and drinks to customers, reducing the workload on human staff. By handling routine tasks, they free up employees to focus on more important duties, improving services.

Servi robots have been successfully used in restaurants in the US, South Korea, and Japan, showing their growing importance in the industry. Bear Robotics has seen good funding which allowed it to improve its robotics technology and explore new uses beyond its current models. In 2025, LG acquired a majority stake in the company, effectively incorporating it as a subsidiary.
