What the job involves
- Reporting to the Product Content Strategist, you’ll join a diverse, cross-functional group of researchers, designers, and creatives on the Product Design team
- The UX Writer is responsible for helping craft the language and narrative for Wave’s suite of financial management tools
- Contributing to a product team of designers, product managers, engineers, and data analysts, they create clear, concise content to guide users across multiple channels and touchpoints (including emails, notifications, and navigational and instructional elements)
- Partnering with designers, developers, researchers, and product managers to deliver compelling product content
- Collaborating on projects across the entire design lifecycle and multiple product launches
- Writing and editing content across multiple channels, including email, landing pages, and notifications
- Distilling complex information into simple, concise language. Writing in Wave’s voice and style, incorporating our editorial and tone guidelines to ensure consistency across platforms
- Advocating for our users and recommending content approaches to influence strategic decisions. In collaboration with product designers, exploring content possibilities to deliver the best experience and balance user needs with business goals
- Leveraging insights and data to support content recommendations and continually iterating and refining the work
Our take
Over 90% of all businesses in North America are zero to five employee companies. These businesses are organising their finances either by paying an expensive accountant, or relying on traditional spreadsheets.
In response, Wave is democratising access to financial services software. While it is not the first to do this, it has taken the flourishing approach of giving away the invoicing and accounting software 100% for free.
The company instead makes money by embedding financial services products within the software. It's these payments and other revenue streams that the startup is now looking to expand to secure more revenue to scale.
While the company has had success so far with its tools, it will need to build a whole suite of products and services in order to compete with the accounting software giants like Xero.
