Who you are

Very strong communication and writing skills

What the job involves

As a fast-growing media startup, every day at Nara is varied. From day one you’ll receive immediate responsibility (which you’d never receive at a bigger agency), with a normal workday including client relations, devising media campaigns, new business and helping build the company
As one of our early employees you will be given the autonomy and support to develop quickly and watch your career grow in parallel with the business
Working with a range of brilliant startups and scaleups across the US, UK, Europe and Africa, in sectors spanning sustainability, investment, diversity and inclusion, education, gaming, the metaverse, and more
Developing long-lasting relationships with journalists around the world, at publications such as The Guardian, CNBC, WIRED, The BBC, and The New York Times
Writing press releases, pitches, op-eds, blog posts, social media copy etc.
Brainstorming impacting ideas that we can implement on behalf of our clients
We are a hybrid company, with our team able to work in our London office (WeWork in Shoreditch) as and when they want to. All other WeWorks internationally are also available to work from

We'll send you two digital tests (personality and logic) which are designed to remove bias from our hiring process (20-30 minutes in total)
Initial intro Zoom meeting with one of the team (30 min)
We’ll then give you a PR-related interview task to work on in your own time
You'll then meet with the Senior Leadership Team, which consists of Nara's co-founders and Client Services Director You'll present your task and then complete a short live writing exercise (1 - 1.5 hours in total)
We may want to set up an in-person meeting (dependent on where you're based) or an additional Zoom call

Our take

Every company, no matter the size, depends upon its reputation for success. Public relations, also known as PR, is a key management tool for businesses to help them achieve their goals and improve their image. It's no surprise, then, that this is a big market: in 2021 it was calculated that the global PR market was worth $92.55 billion, and by the end of 2025 the industry is expected to surpass a value of $129 billion.

Founded in 2021, Nara Communications has set an impressive early trajectory, already working with a number of businesses ranging from pre-seed startups to multinational companies. A key advantage which PR companies have is that their potential market is huge - demand is always there, and is always changing.

However, a bountiful market inevitably has its disadvantages; Nara will face some stiff competition as it fights to get established in the market. The PR market is particularly dominated by large PR firms such as Hope and Glory and City Press. Key to Nara's success, then, will be building a client base so that it can compete alongside longer-established firms and carve out some serious market share.
