Role
Who you are
- Currently enrolled in a business, marketing or communications program
- Strong storytelling skills. You have a talent for sharing information in a digestible, concise and engaging manner
- On top of internet culture, social issues and it’s ever-changing landscape. You stay curious!
- Understand that marketing is just as much creativity as it is about geeking over data. You know how to use data to inform your decisions and recommendations
- Can juggle multiple projects and relationships at a time in a fast past atmosphere
- You bring your A game when it comes to collaboration and ensure all teams are looped in to relevant details
What the job involves
- Term: 4 months (May to August 2025)
- Reporting into the Senior Marketing Manager, this individual will have an opportunity to learn and apply practical skills to unlock brand awareness using both a creative and data driven approach
- Together, we will strategically amplify all the amazing benefits of Open Farm recipes and it’s mission driven initiatives (our 10-year climate strategy, Ocean sustainability program and more!)
- You will engage with several team members across functions and build meaningful relationships through a variety of exciting projects
- Contribute to the ideation and execution of customer marketing tools and assets
- Robust partnership outreach and execution
- Support creative brief development for trade assets
- Support trade show execution
- Coordination of asset needs with creative team for key programs
- Lead development of retail marketing and sales support tools
- Develop innovation launch materials
- Contribute to fiscal brand planning
- Work cross-functionally to ensure internal alignment of tools, assets and programs
- All other duties, as assigned

On top of this, owners are usually keen to purchase products that meet the same ethical and sustainability standards of goods they would buy for themselves - but big pet food brands often do not cater for any of these requirements.
Open Farm sells nutrition-focused pet food for dogs and cats at online and retail stores, with ingredients obtained from sources with excellent animal welfare standards and low carbon footprints. From its recipes to its packaging, the company displays a strong focus on ethics and environmental responsibility, and stands out for its transparency.
As consumer sentiment trends towards more conscious purchasing, there is a widening market for products such as Open Farm's. The company has been steadily growing its presence in the expanding pet food sector, and introduced an online carbon footprint tool that allows consumers to see the carbon footprint of all its products.
