Role
Who you are
- Professional qualification. RA qualified (or close to completion) is a must
- Relevant experience of 5+ years in financial reporting or accounting, ideally within Dutch GAAP
- Audit background. Big 4 experience is a strong plus
- Technical strength with a solid understanding of accounting, tax, internal controls, and financial processes
- Systems knowledge. Experience with Odoo and consolidation tools is a plus
- Analytical mindset with strong Excel skills and an interest in automation (AI included)
- Communication skills. Fluent in English and able to translate financial topics into clear insights
- Ownership mindset and comfortable taking responsibility, solving problems, and dealing with ambiguity
- Adaptability. You thrive in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment
- Team spirit. You bring energy, humour, and collaborate easily with others
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Financial Controller at our Amsterdam HQ, 32-40 hours
- Own the numbers that matter. Take responsibility for accurate and timely monthly and year-end close processes, including P&L and balance sheet reviews
- Lead key reporting moments. Drive the preparation of annual statutory accounts and coordinate audits across the Netherlands and key European markets (Germany, Belgium, UK, Spain)
- Raise the bar on financial control. Improve internal controls, push automation, and streamline processes across the organisation
- Handle complexity with confidence. Work on topics like transfer pricing, intercompany transactions, and purchase price allocation
- Support business decisions. Contribute to business cases, review transactions, and approve payments when needed
- Partner across the business. Collaborate closely with the finance team and other departments to keep operations running smoothly
- Keep things moving forward. Support ad hoc requests and adapt quickly in a fast-changing environment

Prescription eyewear can be expensive, unfashionable and overly complicated to purchase. Ace & Tate solves this problem by manufacturing and selling high-quality designer eyewear directly to customers.
Unlike more traditional optometrists and eyewear outlets, Ace & Tate's stores are modelled as bright, spacious boutiques. This appeals directly to fashion conscious customers, and has proven lucrative for the company so far. On top of this, the brand offers free eye tests, cutting out unnecessary middlemen.
As the company scales, it must do so without endangering the sustainability of its product if it is to hold onto its impressive following. The brand now operates in several countries, and is looking to grow its operations considerably - most lately opening a number of stores in Spain.
