Role
Who you are
- Experience: 5+ years of experience leading a product design team, ideally focusing on growth and revenue projects. Proven leadership experience in managing and mentoring design teams
- Hands-On Leadership: Ability to balance high-level strategic thinking with detailed design work. Comfortable guiding your team through complex, ambiguous challenges
- Design Expertise: Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, UX/UI best practices, and the ability to translate business goals into compelling designs
- Collaboration: Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience working closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to use data to inform design decisions and measure success
- Innovation: A history of innovative thinking and a passion for pushing design boundaries to achieve business goals
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
What the job involves
- Tinder seeks a visionary and hands-on Director of Product Design to lead and inspire our Growth and Revenue design teams
- In this pivotal role, you will drive the design strategy and execution for products that fuel Tinder’s growth and optimize revenue streams
- You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, and Data Insights, to create user-centric experiences that delight users and drive business results
- Lead the Design Team: You’ll lead and mentor a group of designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment and ensuring high-quality design across all growth and revenue projects
- Strategic Vision and Execution: Develop a design strategy that aligns with Tinder’s business goals, focusing on user acquisition, retention, and monetization. You’ll balance strategic thinking with hands-on design work, guiding your team through every stage of the process
- Be Hands-On: Actively participate in the design process, contributing directly to projects when needed. Lead by example in both your design work and strategic thinking
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams to identify opportunities and deliver impactful design solutions that support key business metrics. Ensure alignment and clarity between design and other teams
- Coach and Mentor: Provide guidance and support to your team, helping them navigate complex and ambiguous challenges. Foster a culture of continuous learning and development
- Focus on the User: Ensure that design decisions are driven by user research, data analysis, and a deep understanding of user behavior, advocating for the user at every stage of the product lifecycle
- Innovate: Stay ahead of industry trends and new technologies. Continuously explore new design methods and tools to enhance the user experience and drive growth
- Communicate Effectively: Clearly communicate design strategies and concepts to senior leadership and other stakeholders, showing how design contributes to business goals
- Measure Success: Use data to measure the success of design initiatives, iterating on designs to improve performance and user satisfaction
