- Have some experience in TypeScript
- Have been coding outside of work for 5+ years, through side projects, open source, and more recently, AI
- Have strong software engineering skills and are eager to grow them
- Have a strong bias towards action, a willingness to do whatever it takes, and embody show > tell
- Have a strong sense of agency, effectively prioritizing and unblocking yourself without much outside input
- Studied Computer Science (or related field), or dropped out to build stuff
What the job involves
- You’ll work in a small, nimble team tackling challenging, ambiguous problems at the cutting edge of technology and learn something new every day. We believe the effort and raw hours you put in directly shapes the outcome. Speed matters, and we move with focus and intent
- Projects you might work on:
- Desktop Cloud VMs - Architect and manage our cloud-based Desktop VM infrastructure, providing a resilient foundation for our agents
- Hyper-Scale Agent Platform - Design and evolve our infrastructure to seamlessly handle 10s of millions of agent executions monthly
- Verification Platform - Make sure our agents do what they say they’re going to do, every time
- Multi-agent architecture - Build and refine how multiple agents collaborate to solve complex workflows

Our take
It’s generally accepted that most workers in many sectors will complete at least one repetitive computer task within their work day. Magical is a platform hoping to remove the ache of these mundane tasks through its automation system.
The company doesn’t use specific integrations or APIs, rather, it simply collects repeatedly used data that can then be collated on the likes of a Google sheet or email. The platform stops you from typing the same thing over and over by populating repeatedly used text such as contact information. It's said to save an average of seven hours of work a week with its free-to-download Chrome extension.
Founded in 2020, Magical is at a relatively early stage but has already attracted considerable funding. The company is using its 2022 funds to expand operations and continue development efforts to expand its features. The company has worked with over 10,000 businesses, including Salesforce, Uber, Bolt, Disney, and Facebook. In 2023, Magical released a collaboration tool that boosted productivity by 20%, so it'll be exciting to see what other features it has up its sleeve as the company scales up.
