Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of AWS infrastructure development w/ emphasis on infrastructure as code and provisioning/updating automation (preferably w/ Terraform)
- Proficient w/ Linux systems administration, network configuration, and shell scripting
- Expertise w/ Linux system containerization using Docker
- Proficient software development with Git, and BASH, Python, or NodeJS
- Experience w/ micro-services or services-orientated Architecture (SOA)
- Exceptional communication skills. You can effectively talk (and listen) to engineers, product managers, executives, and other stakeholders.
Desirable
- Experience delivering reusable software libraries/packages to enable easier use and adoption of infrastructure patterns and systems
- Extensive experience debugging problems w/ distributed systems and networks
- Familiarity with SSO integration
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL RDBMS administration on AWS RDS
What the job involves
- Own architecture design, implementation, cost-management of AWS infrastructure at Vouch
- Automate all infrastructure provisioning w/ Terraform and maintain CI/CD pipeline for infrastructure changes
- Manage Vouch DNS, network, and load-balancing infrastructure
- Engage directly with software engineering teams to deliver reusable patterns that enable easy, consistent application deployment in AWS
- Lead the conversation around AWS infrastructure and security best practices
- Deliver flexible, cost-effective infrastructure and scaling patterns
- Manage the logging, monitoring, and alerting systems of our applications
Our take
Startups can find it hard to get insured, thanks to legacy systems that struggle to accommodate the concept of, for example, a successful company flush with funding but low on revenue. Vouch is a US insurtech startup looking to right this wrong for startups right from seed stage.
Instead of applying unsuitable risk assessment procedures, adding irrelevant coverage, and wrapping the whole thing up in startup-prohibitive exclusions, Vouch’s approach is to reform the process from the ground up. Cutting loose in this way from legacy processes means Vouch both offers an unusually tailored product, and can pivot more swiftly towards the rapidly changing requirements of its startup clientele. For example, by offering additional packages suitable to remote working when workforces pivoted online.
It’s won Vouch strong investor confidence, with backers including Y-Combinator and Silicon Valley Bank, and around $6B in risk protected. This is relevant, because publicly traded insurtech startup giants like Lemonade and Root have been routed in the markets recently. Vouch’s strong and relatively protected position could see it sneak up on them, if it can maintain its momentum.
