Role
Who you are
- This role is for curious problem-solvers with a customer-first mindset and a background in finance or strategy, ideally in health, consumer tech, or CPG
- 7-9+ years of professional experience at a management consulting firm, investment bank or working in a high-performing strategy team
- Proven experience working with executive leadership in a strategy, Chief of Staff, or similar high-impact role
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, financial modeling capabilities (e.g., Excel) and the ability to build simple but impactful presentations for executive audiences
- The ability to navigate ambiguity and complexity with effective prioritization and out of the box, creative problem solving
- Familiarity and a passion for health & wellness products and experiences, healthcare and the digital health space
What the job involves
- As part of our Strategy & Operations team, you'll help Oura transform the future of health. You’ll build work with our leadership team to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities, shaping our long-term strategy
- Shape and evolve Oura's corporate strategy and help set near and long-term strategic priorities in support of our long-term vision
- Explore new ways for Oura to create value for our members and inform leadership’s thinking on opportunities to evolve our business model
- Perform in-depth market research and identify emerging trends, opportunities and threats in the digital and personal health landscape
- Assess the strategic implications and business impact of these emerging trends, market opportunities, and competitive threats
- Perform detailed market sizing, competitive analysis, and assess the strategic fit of new growth opportunities with Oura's long-range plan
- Develop business cases and financial models for strategic initiatives, quantifying potential impact and investment requirements
- Build strong relationships and drive consensus with cross-functional teams and leaders on strategic growth and operational opportunities
- Identify capabilities required to deliver our long-range plan, and build frameworks and an M&A pipeline to support Corporate Development
- Manage our portfolio of strategic initiatives, identify risks and make sure we're investing resources and capital to maximize business impact
- Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations and strategic performance updates to the broader executive leadership team
- Contribute to the continuous development of the Strategy & Operations team's roadmap, methodologies, and analytical capabilities
Our take
As smart watches with health and wellbeing monitoring functions are now an everyday norm, Oura is offering similar wearable technology with its series of rings. It’s one of a number of companies gaining serious traction in the market, along with the likes of Circular and Movano.
The company gained an early profile after its collaboration with Gucci which created mainstream publicity and may have given it a leg up on the competition. With the smart ring market forecast to keep growing, Oura certainly finds itself in a promising position as it moves to build out its operations and refine the product.
The bottom line for Oura will be customer satisfaction and demand, which does make its mixed reviews so far a little troubling. That said, the announcement of its new "Circles" social feature, on top of an integration with InsideTracker and acquisition of "wave to pay" company Proxy, all look set to increase the functionality of the ring and could well win more consumers over.
