- You have 3-5 years of experience as a product designer with demonstrable proficiency owning the design process from early stage ideation through high fidelity design to product ship
- You are comfortable working closely with other designers, product managers, engineers, researchers, and data scientists. You can synthesize and consider their points of view in your work
- You’re a strong communicator who can explain ideas clearly and persuasively, and present your work in a way that energizes and creates shared ownership for both leaders and peers
- You are fluent in UX, visual and interactive design best practices and have a strong knowledge of usability fundamentals and methodologies
- You thrive in fast-paced environments and are comfortable with working on multiple projects simultaneously
- You work well with ambiguity and get excited about complex problems
- You are people-focused and passionate about designing great experiences
- You are proficient in Figma (our primary tool).You have experience with UX writing or copywriting
- You are a talented designer with an impressive design portfolio that you can share with us. Applications without a portfolio are unlikely to be considered
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a mid-level Product Designer to join our Lifecycle product team within our Growth organization, a team that spans multiple strategic areas of our subscription-based business. You'll design personalized and delightful communication touch points along the entire customer journey on and off Everand, Scribd, and SlideShare, turning millions of new visitors into engaged subscribers

- Gain a deep understanding of customer behavior, preferences, and pain points throughout the customer’s lifecycle by working with product, data analytics, user research, customer support, and marketing
- Define the ideal in-product end-to-end sign up, onboarding, and offboarding experience with other designers and cross-functional stakeholders
- Define an end-to-end customer lifecycle vision spanning email, push notifications, and in-app messaging with cross-functional stakeholders
- Run A/B tests and qualitative research to validate hypotheses and designs in partnership with product, data analytics, and user research
- Ensure in-product and off-product designs align with our brand guidelines
- Own design projects from brief, research, and concept exploration through prototyping, visual design, and stewardship through development
- Use data collected from research, user testing and market evaluation to guide your design decisions
- Pair with researchers to plan and conduct user research, and test prototypes
- Communicate designs by creating user flows, prototypes, and high fidelity mock-ups
- Develop and maintain detailed design documentation & specifications for your work
- Work closely with engineers to ensure that the user experience is polished and as intended
- Use a variety of metrics to evaluate and continuously improve the user experience
- Regularly present your work to senior leaders for review and feedback
Our take
The world's biggest site for social reading and publishing, Scribd's website has over 250 million unique visitors each month and a vast content library, consisting of over 200 million audiobooks, magazines, ebooks and newspapers as well as media created by the Scribd community.
While Scribd is the largest social reading site, it is not alone in offering this kind of media. It competes against some major players, the largest of which are Amazon's Kindle and Audible offerings, but also includes the likes of BookMate and the non-profit Internet Archive. Where it stands aside is in its feature-rich reader and the sheer diversity of its library, which, thanks to partnerships with several major publishers, features numerous popular titles as well as a range of independent creators.
Further differentiating it from competitors, the company taken a firm stand on social issues, in particular the recent wave of book bannings taking place across the United States. By making the banned titles freely available it hopes to do its part in preserving literary freedom. With this tendency showing no signs of slowing down, Scribd's intervention in this area could prove to be important.
