Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field
- 3+ years of experience designing switching power converters
- Experience with layout, filter design, and bench testing for switching power converters
- Experience with high-voltage power electronics (>100 V)
Desirable
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with switching power converter design, including component selection and simulating/tuning control loops
- Designed and owned power electronics hardware that operated in space
- Experience with radiation testing, design-for-EMI, and/or EMI testing
- Experience with custom magnetics design
- Experience with electric propulsion spacecraft or avionics
- Experience in a startup or agile development environment
What the job involves
- As a Power Electronics Engineer at Impulse, you will design, build, and fly electrical systems critical to the success of the Mira spacecraft
- You will work closely with propulsion, software, GNC, and vehicle engineers to develop cross-cutting power electronics products from scratch
- You will be responsible for defining and executing the electrical architecture and technical roadmap of high-power flight systems related to Mira propulsion
- This role is for Level II, Senior, Staff, and Principal level applicants
- Own hardware from inception through qualification, launch, and flight operations
- Design and fabricate the electronic components of high-power systems
- Perform development testing of hardware in the lab, from a single circuit board to an entire system
- Develop requirements and trades for avionics components and systems
- Contribute to spacecraft-level architecture and operations trades
