Role
Who you are
- You are experienced in engineering for frontend technologies and developing creative solutions using modern web frameworks and server-side rendering, experience with Next.js is a plus
- You are already familiar with writing Typescript (or eager to learn)
- You enjoy working with state-of-the-art technologies such as TanStack Query, Radix, shad/cn
- You have prior experience with writing your own tests and feature testing, ideally using Vitest, Playwright and Unleash
- You have a solid understanding of CSS3 and responsive design, using TailwindCSS
- You ideally have experience in basic DevOps tasks using Github CI/CD and AWS Cloudfront
- You ideally have some basic experience with monitoring applications via Sentry (or eager to learn)
- You have a solid understanding of industry standard ad tech infrastructure
- Together with our Technical SEO Manager, you deliver a SEO-optimized website
- You're data-driven and lean on quantitative tools to help you drive decision-making: AB Testing, performance and quality monitoring, and product analytics
- You have basic knowledge about backend systems, JSON-based REST APIs and how to communicate with them
- You are a result-oriented and self-motivated creative thinker who likes to work independently and is highly structured
- You would describe yourself as a team player being highly collaborative and able to build cross-functional relationships
- You are fluent in English, German is a plus
- You enjoy good food and are inspired by it as a topic

- As Frontend Engineer you will join our agile, cross-functional development team to create an amazing experience for millions of food lovers worldwide.
- You will be working on a globally successful product that received prestigious awards, like Apple Design Award 2017 or the Google Play Design Award and is based on state-of-the-art technologies.
- Your focus will be to build and maintain existing web applications. If you are a creative problem solver who is hungry for a new adventure, we’d love to hear from you
- You'll help define and move forward the practices and architecture patterns across our department
- You'll have the opportunity to exchange with the other senior engineers and shape the overall systems architecture of Kitchen Stories
- You'll be able to proactively contribute to growing our product end to end: from discovery to delivery
- You work in a cross-functional, agile team collaborating closely with Mobile and Backend Engineers, Product, Data, and Creative teams, and other stakeholders to develop features in a secure, well-tested, and performant way
- Communicate with technical and non-technical teammates to help clarify and solve complex problems
- You are responsible for the conception, realization and optimization of our website
- You consistently ship small features and improvements with minimal guidance from others
- You bring in new ideas and technologies, sharing your knowledge with others
- You apply the best software-engineering practices to ensure code quality and maintainability

For many people today, finding and cooking fresh and exciting recipes can seem inaccessible. Kitchen Stories solves this problem with its interactive cookery app and website.
Compared to user-generated recipe sites, Kitchen Stories has maintained a strong focus on creating high-quality content. What's more, it allows users to find recipes based on the ingredients they already have. The company has scaled rapidly since its launch, and now boasts a database of around 11 million recipes.
Kitchen Stories's main challenge will be competing with other content-based recipe apps and websites, including UK-based Mob. However, its personalized approach and interactive recipes will ensure that Kitchen Stories can continue to differentiate itself from its rivals, and scale its customer base.
