Role
Who you are
- Experience leading, coaching and mentoring driven and high performing teams
- A strong product mindset and passion for user experience - you prioritize work with customers in mind and make data-driven decisions to fix customer pain points
- Great communication skills and the ability to articulate complex, technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Experience working with React based frontend applications, Javascript / Typescript
- Experience building and designing scalable and performant systems
- Ability to break down complex projects into incremental milestones that deliver customer value
- …but don’t worry we don’t expect you to know everything!
Desirable
- Experience with Content Management Systems, and concepts such as headless CMS,
- Experience working with / creating / extending design systems,
- Experience with Java, Spring Boot backend technologies, and event-driven microservices architectures
What the job involves
- Collaborate with product, design, and other teams across the company to deliver impactful outcomes as a team,
- Be responsible for the overall health and productivity of the engineers within your team - and help them grow to be their best selves,
- Own the availability and scalability of our logged-out product pages, and how we build them going forward,
- Provide feedback on technical design decisions and approach, and help the team make data-driven decisions,
- Have an overview of what’s happening within the broader Onboarding space, and thinking about engineering as a whole,
- Understand the teams’ systems deeply enough to be hands on, when needed

Our take
Wise started when the two founders realised they would be better off trading Estonian kroons for British pounds (and vice versa) between themselves rather than going through banks. That was back in 2011, and they've since grown Wise into one of Europe's most successful tech businesses, exchanging billions of currency every month.
Wise rapidly grew by solving a significant problem for customers, who lost too much money to banks when exchanging currency. Its attracted investment from some of the best investors in the world, from Andreesen Horowitz to Index Ventures and even Richard Branson.
While the market is crowded with new entrants (think Revolut and Monzo) and traditional banks trying to catch up, Wise is still staying one step ahead having recently opened a new hub in India and new payment features as well as reporting a rise in key metrics on higher volume and customer growth. This continued growth positions the company well for continued success in the future.
